We had hot school lunches for the first time today and it’s safe to say they were a huge success! Our food is delivered daily by Carambola and cooked by school staff. Roll on tomorrow!

The Junior and Senior Infant pupils have been working so hard to decorate our school beautifully for Autumn! Maith sibh!
The bad weather didn’t stop the pupils of Juniors – 2nd being very active today. We started with an 8 minute Joe Wicks workout which got our hearts pumping and then slowed things down with some Cosmic Yoga mindfulness. It was all very enjoyable!
2nd class have been learning all about regular and irregular polygons in their maths work. Yesterday, they worked with 1st class to make their own shapes and follow instructions with terrific results! Maith sibh!
The pupils from Juniors – 2nd started their Food Dudes journey today. They tried apple slices and tomatoes and both were very popular!
Junior Infants are working on extending patterns at present while Seniors are learning all about the number 6. It’s a very busy time in our classroom!
The pupils of the Senior Room had a great day out at the Sciath na Scol hurling blitz in Dunmanway last Friday. They have really taken to hurling in the last few weeks and shown great talent and improvement. As always, our wonderful pupils represented the school so well. Maith sibh go léir!
We were delighted to welcome Jim from Kilmeen / Kilbree GAA club to school today. Pupils in all classes took part in skills and drills. It was really enjoyable!
We were delighted to welcome Josh back for more rugby sessions this year. Everyone really enjoyed the games and drills!
The pupils of the Junior room created some wonderful dot art work to honour International Dot Day this week. We were inspired by the fantastic story ‘The Dot’ by Peter H. Reynolds.
It’s a case of new year same old hard working Infant pupils! They have been busy doing hands on maths activities and improving their fine and gross motor skills. Maith sibh go léir!
We had so much fun in the sun on Tuesday for our annual sports day! The pupils of the senior room organised a very varied and challenging obstacle course on the yard while on the pitch, everyone tried various skills from the long jump and javelin throwing to a penalty shoot out and hula hooping. The day ended with tug of war events which were very hotly contested!
We celebrated the end of the primary school journey for 3 magnificent pupils this week. We are so proud of these young people and wish them all the very best as they start their new exciting journey in secondary school. There will always be a warm welcome for them in Reenascreena NS!
We had a terrific day out at Let’s Go in Trabeg Sprts Centre on Monday. Highlight included the zorb rolling ball, go karts, air jump and VR headsets. It was a very quiet journey home after the non stop acitivities!
The pupils of the Junior Room had great fun experimenting with floating and sinking recently with Finola!
The Infants love working together on various maths challenges. This hands on work is so beneficial for their development in so many ways and it feels like play time to them!
We were delighted to welcome our new pupils for an afternoon last week. The current Junior and Senior Infants showed them around and are so excited to have them join our room in September!
We were blown away by the array of amazing baking that was donated for our cake sale yesterday! After the tin whistle concert, the assembled parents, grandparents and other family members enjoyed a cuppa and chat. Lá iontach a bhí againn!
The pupils of 1st-6th have enjoyed tin whistle lessons with Martina French this year. Yesterday’s wonderful performance for parents, grandparents and other family members was the culmination of their very hard work! Martina spoke glowingly of the progress everyone has made. It was wonderful to see so many children embrace this new skill and make such improvements week on week. The Infants joined in with some singing so it really was a fabulous whole school concert!
We are so proud of all our pupils who represented the school so well at MTU yesterday. Huge thanks to Colm and Fionnuala for looking after our athletes so well on the day. Maith sibh go léir!
We really enjoyed taking part in Food Dudes this week! There are some new favourite fruits and vegetables among our pupils!
We are so proud of our 2nd class pupils who received the sacrament of Holy Communion in St Facthna’s Church, Rosscarbery.
The football competition is always a big highlight. This year’s venue was Dunmanway and our pupils played extremely well, representing the school as magnificently as always. The ice cream afterwards was well deserved!
We cooled down recently with ice cream and wafers. The pupils of the Senior Room had theirs demolished before Colm could get any snaps!
We had a terrific trip to the Long Strand today with Rory of the Ocean Plastic Project. After an hour of litter picking, the treats of chips and hot chocolate from Peter and Elaine at the Fish Basket were well earned!
Juniors and Seniors had a great time showing their teddies around the yard and garden today! Our very kind pupils even shared their treats with their furry friends!
At long last the sun has reappeared so the pupils of 2nd class took the opportunity to set up a circuit for their friends in Junior Infants, Senior Infants and 1st class. Everyone worked very hard!

2 of our pupils were very busy making treats for everyone. They were DELICIOUS! Go raibh maith agaibh!
2 weeks ago, pupils in 1st and 2nd were paired up and gave each other a book that they thought their partner would enjoy reading. Today was the feedback session where they shared their thoughts, what they liked/disliked etc. It was a great success and we’ll do it again in term 3!
Our Special Ed Teacher, Deirdre, teaches the pupils in the Junior Room every Thursday while Eimear takes a Principal Release day to attend to admin matters. Today, they had a great time painting pictures of the Easter Bunny!
The pupils of Juniors and Seniors were very busy completing Maths tasks this morning. It was great to hear them discuss, argue (constructively!), sort and achieve together within minimal input from their teacher. Maith sibh go léir!
We had great fun celebrating St. Patrick last week!
Pupils in all classes enjoyed a terrific workshop today with Eileen Beattie. They were challenged to create helicopters following very detailed instructions. It was great to see such creativity and ingenuity as some pupils made their own improvements and modifications once they had finished. Maith sibh go léir!
To encourage reading and promote peer learning, the pupils in 1st and 2nd were paired up and asked to choose a book their partner would like to read. They will check in to see how it has gone in 2 weeks time.
The pupils of the Junior Room read about a little girl called Hannah and a dog called Sugar lately. 1st and 2nd then drew different parts of the story. They did a brilliant job. Maith sibh go léir!
We were delighted to welcome Flavie back to school for a Zumba class today. It was terrific fun as always!
The pupils of the Junior Room were very busy painting pictures of Springtime lately. They did a wonderful job and have really brightened up our walls!
1st and 2nd used interlocking cubes as a unit of measurement recently. There was lots of laughing and some learning too!
The pupils of the senior room competed in a schools’ chess competition in Barryroe last Friday. They have been working very hard and did really well on the day. Well done, everyone!
We sent a team to compete in the FAI schools 5 a side soccer competition last week. They represented our school magnificently and had a great day out. Maith sibh go léir!
Some of our younger pupils were working on literacy skills this week. They are making fantastic progress!
Fionnuala, Claire and Kay pulled out all the stops to treat our pupils (and staff!) to scrumptious pancakes yesterday. They were delicious!
1st and 2nd worked on their addition tables with SET, Deirdre, and later they followed instructions and intrpreted some different shapes with great success!

The pupils of the Senior Room created the most incredible self-portrait prints with artist Norah Porter as part of our TAP+ partnership. The results are just terrific! Well done, everyone!
The pupils of the Junior Room had so much fun with a variety of musical instruments. It wasn’t very quiet but it was very enjoyable! We have such talented pupils in our midst!
Our wonderful pupils treated us to 2 magificent performances in the Celtic Ross Hotel last night. We could not be any prouder of them. Maith sibh go léir!
Today we enjoyed hot chocolate and marshmallows as a treat for superb work and terrific behaviour since we started back in September!
