Sports Day 2024!

We had so much fun in the sun on Tuesday for our annual sports day! The pupils of the senior room organised a very varied and challenging obstacle course on the yard while on the pitch, everyone tried various skills from the long jump and javelin throwing to a penalty shoot out and hula hooping. The day ended with tug of war events which were very hotly contested!

Graduation 2024

We celebrated the end of the primary school journey for 3 magnificent pupils this week. We are so proud of these young people and wish them all the very best as they start their new exciting journey in secondary school. There will always be a warm welcome for them in Reenascreena NS!

Cake sale

We were blown away by the array of amazing baking that was donated for our cake sale yesterday! After the tin whistle concert, the assembled parents, grandparents and other family members enjoyed a cuppa and chat. Lá iontach a bhí againn!

Tin whistle performance!

The pupils of 1st-6th have enjoyed tin whistle lessons with Martina French this year. Yesterday’s wonderful performance for parents, grandparents and other family members was the culmination of their very hard work! Martina spoke glowingly of the progress everyone has made. It was wonderful to see so many children embrace this new skill and make such improvements week on week. The Infants joined in with some singing so it really was a fabulous whole school concert!

Beach clean up!

We had a terrific trip to the Long Strand today with Rory of the Ocean Plastic Project. After an hour of litter picking, the treats of chips and hot chocolate from Peter and Elaine at the Fish Basket were well earned!

Halloween fun and games!

We finished the half term with lots of Halloween themed fun and games!

Some brave pupils went digging in “slime” for sweets; the pupils of the Junior Room went on an Active sounds walk looking for letters found at the beginning of popular Halloween themed words; they also had fun doing a Monster dance while the pupils of the Senior Room enjoyed Halloween themed Dodgeball!

Cake sale!

The undoubted highlight of Maths Week was Friday’s cake sale. Every available gram of flour, butter and sugar in West Cork must have been utilised as we were treated to a huge array of magnificent baking. If only Maths could be like this every day! Huge thanks and well done to everyone!

Clay with Norah

The pupils of the Junior Room had so much fun working with clay last week. There was a lot of work involved – cutting and rolling the clay to begin with. You will be astounded by the end products! All will be revealed in the coming weeks – watch this space!

Art with Norah Porter

We are working with artist Norah Porter as part of the TAP+ (Teacher And Artist Partnership) this year. For our first session, every pupil created their own patterns using pastels and we put them together to make one big piece at the end. What talented and creative pupils we have in this school!
